Parking

Cheapest: Long-term parking, located about four miles from terminals 1-9 at Lefferts Boulevard, is $18 daily, $6 for each eight-hour period thereafter. AirTrain connects the lots to the terminal every four to eight minutes from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. and every 12 minutes from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Most convenient: Rates for up-close, Central Terminal parking are $3 for the first half-hour, $6 for up to an hour and $3 for each extra hour. Daily parking is $33.

Valet parking: $24 for the first day; $12 for each 12-hour period afterward. Drop your car off at the Lefferts Boulevard AirTrain station.

Payment: Visa, MasterCard American Express and Discover Card are accepted. Or pay for your parking with E-ZPass.

Wi-Fi

WiFi is available in most public areas within most terminals. Get online near the ticket counters, boarding gates, designated work stations and food courts, provided by Boingo for $4.95 per hour or $7.95 per day.

Ground Transportation

Train: The AirTrain JFK light-rail system connects the airport to four subway lines and the Long Island Rail Road. A trip to midtown Manhattan -- take the AirTrain to Jamaica Station, then the LIRR or the "E" subway to Penn Station -- takes about 35 minutes and costs $12 during peak fare hours.


Shuttle: Several shuttle companies connect JFK to Manhattan and beyond. A trip to Midtown Manhattan can run about $19. Details and schedules are available at each terminal's ground transportation counter.


Taxi: For your own safety, use uniformed taxi dispatchers to get a taxi.


The Flat Fare rate to Manhattan costs $45 plus tolls and tip, and may take as long as an hour. For other destinations, there is a 50-cent surcharge for trips from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. daily and a $1 surcharge for trips from 4 to 8 p.m. on weekdays.
